October 2020
October was pretty busy in terms of droids, specifically R6. I figured I might as well at least attempt to get some of the smaller projects done whilst the Coronovirus Pandemic has everything in the air, no events, no cons and no meet ups for the most part. I have kept very busy with the formation of the new Droid Builder Web Team however building some new online tools.

Mostly this month and parts of last month I have stuck the top part of the dome together to the main dome and completed that. I have also printed the pie panels and not have all the boxes for the struts printed and glued together. Currently using CA Glue from eBay with a mix of thick and thin. Simply applying little dots of the thick glue and clamping it together and once that is dry I apply a layer of thin CA Glue around all the joins and let that seep into gaps as well as forming a bond right on the edge. So far I've not had anything come apart so something must be working right for once!

I did attempt to use the filler on the join of the main dome and the dome top since it was still a bit big weirdly but it was extremely hot when I did it and the filler was going off to quickly so I tackled that problem by sanding it back and trying again. I actually bought some Wilko Exterior Filler. So far it seems a wonderful thing. It goes on just like a paste, you can use a scraper or just your finger.

Picture one is the print off the printer, picture two is with the filler applied and picture three is after the first layer has been sanded with 80 grit. Fair warning however, as always, do it outside or wear a mask when sanding. This filler smells like somebody farted in your face when you start sanding. I am yet to try applying the filler primer and seeing how that reacts. Hopefully it will work fine!
